| The Periodic Table of Awesoments |
[Aug. 10th, 2008|05:06 pm] |
Totally yanked from Neatorama - awesome!

In the 300 B.C., years before the birth of black Jesus, Aristole postulated that all good things were made of "win." That was a pretty good guess, but he was drunk and probably also having an orgy. Modern day awesominers know there are actually 118 fundamental "awesoments" that compose all good things. The Periodic table of Awesoments can be a very useful tool. It's designed to show the relationships between awesoments, and often one can even predict how awesoments interact simply by their positions on the table. |

| Hitler vs. Frankenstein |
[Feb. 25th, 2008|12:53 pm] |
Think Barack Hussein Obama has it rough campaigning for president with a name like that? The Illinois senator has nothing on Frankenstein Momin. Or Billy Kid Sangma. Or Adolf Lu Hitler Marak.
The three men are among dozens of others with equally colorful names who are competing for legislative seats in Meghalaya, a remote northeast Indian state, on March 3.
There are about 60 seats up for grabs, 331 candidates vying, and no shortage of unusual names.
There's Britainwar Dan, Admiral Sangma and Bombersingh Hynniewta -- all ready for battle.
There's Laborious Manik Syiem and Hilarius Pohchen. Boldness Nongrum and Clever Marak. Even a Tony Curtis Lyngdoh.
"It would be unfair to have a laugh at these names. They're reflective of the names here," David R. Syiemlieh, professor of history at the North Eastern Hill University in the capital city of Shillong, told CNN on Monday. |

| Smurfs up! |
[Jan. 30th, 2008|07:51 am] |

Hundreds of Croatians painted themselves blue and put on silly hats to beat a world record - only to find they were too late.
A total of 395 people turned up dressed as smurfs in the town of Komin to try and beat the record for the most smurfs in one place. But when they contacted Guinness officials to register their world record, they were told "sorry - too late". They had been beaten by an English group in Warwick. Blogged with Flock |

| Rock Band Sets The Stage |
[Jan. 15th, 2008|12:17 am] |
According to Wizard:
If you’re a PS3 or Xbox 360 player living the rock star dream thanks to the hit game “Rock Band,” yet you can’t help feeling like you’re not rocking quite enough, you’re in luck.
According to Engadget, GameStop is already taking preorders for an Xbox 360 peripheral called the Rock Band Stage Kit, which apparently synchs the game to an interactive smoke and light “stage show.”
GameStop lists the Stage Kit as shipping in June. If they manage to include some They Might Be Giants songs with a confetti cannon peripheral, it will officially be the best thing ever.

| Tiny Ghosts: A Webcomic Wonder |
[Jan. 14th, 2008|05:57 pm] |
While I've been busy writing the next several scripts for HIGH MOON, I've been taking the time to study the language, content, and craft of a lot of today's webcomics. Of course, I've mentioned Zuda, Act-I-Vate, In His Likeness, A Softer World, and several other strips over the course of the last several months ... But, Tiny Ghosts has certainly become a new favorite. There is a certain tragedy about the it, but this photographic strip makes great use of its visuals, with pitch-perfect timing. It's a wonderful ... albeit slightly darker read. |

[Nov. 30th, 2007|12:06 pm] |

Grey's Anatomy star Chyler Leigh filmed love scenes for a 1997 B-movie with her real life brother. Fans of the hit TV show have unearthed Kickboxing Academy, and are shocked to discover Leigh kissing her sibling Christopher Khayman Lee, when she was just 15. While Leigh, 25, plays Lexie Grey in the U.S. show, Lee, 29, is most famous as the Red Power Ranger in Power Rangers in Space. |
